We’ll learn how to use a GMAIL account to install and configure SMTP in IIS6 in this article. Users can send emails from the Sage X3 workflow using their Gmail account as a relay server. Below are the steps to enable it-

Navigate to your Gmail account settings and enable ‘Allow less secure apps.’ Then, in the Add roles and features wizard, allow SMTP server and Telnet Client, as shown in screenshot 1 below-

Once the SMTP installed, go to IIS6.0 Manager, and select the IP Address, refer to screenshot #2 below-

The next step is to navigate to the Delivery tab and click on the outbound security button. Enter your Gmail account and password. Enable TLS encryption as shown in screenshot #3

On the same Delivery tab, click on the outbound connection button, change the port to 587. Refer to Screenshot #4 below-

The next step is to click on the Advanced button; change the smart host to smtp.gmail.com. User may reset IIS and start SMTP virtual server once it’s done as shown in screenshot #5 below-

To use Sage X3 workflow emailing, the user needs to login to Sage X3, set up parameters value, and configure workflow rules and user assignment.

Go to parameter values, select Supervisor > Folder, select Workflow and click Detail in the action menu. Assign server name for SERMES value, and create a new folder for workflow link directory WRKRMTDIR (this folder is to keep the approve or reject an item for workflow process). Refer to screenshot #6.

The user needs to turn on workflow signature in parameter values for the workflow to be working. Refer to the example in Screenshot #7 below, it is the workflow for purchase request and purchase order.
